Donation

Dear Friends of the EIAB,
Thanks to your support the EIAB has become a refuge for many people during the last three years. We have been delighted to welcome so many familiar as well as new faces here at EIAB.
We will be offering a wide range of programs in 2012. We are very excited about the retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay), our teacher, in August of 2012. On these retreats we will be able to offer Buddha’s wisdom and Thay’s teachings to many people and lessen suffering in the world.
For EIAB to become an even more dependable refuge of peace and healing, we will now continue with the renovation of our main building.
Construction phase 1 of the renovation with 52 rooms for nuns, monks and guests as well as sanitation facilities in the basement were successfully completed in March of 2010 due to your generous contributions. Please accept our deepest thanks.
Now we are looking at construction phase 2 of the renovation which will include 34 guest rooms, 6 additional rooms, including offices, one class room and a meditation hall.
Thay’s vision of finding sponsors who adopt one of the rooms in need of renovation was met with a lot of enthusiasm: More than 100,000 € have been received in donations from the Netherlands, Vietnam, the United States and France since last August. We are full of joy and gratitude to know that the renovation of ten additional rooms, including all legally required fire protection measures, is secured due to your generosity.
Now we would like to inform you about our challenging plans for the first floor:
It is very important to us to create 5 guest rooms for disabled visitors, so that courses at the EIAB will be wheelchair accessible in the future. At this moment this is not easily possible.
In addition we are planning the opening of a library, the renovation of the book store, and as the greatest highlight of all a gallery with Thay’s calligraphies, which have been exhibited in many renowned places of the world, i.e. in Hongkong, the U.S., Canada and Taiwan. Thousands of people have already viewed these art works in past years.

We also want to renovate our entrance area with the listed wall mosaics and open it to visitors.
These are major undertakings, that we will only realize with your help, with a lot of perseverance and diligence. For the second construction stage which includes the renovation of the ground floor we need funding in the amount of 1.2 million Euros. We ask for your support from the depths of our hearts. You may support us by participating in classes and retreats, by recommending EIAB to your family and friends, by working directly with us on the development of our facilities and with your financial contributions.
We would like to express our deep gratitude for your financial support in a tangible way:
if you fund the renovation of one of the guest rooms, we will dedicate the room to a person of your choice by attaching a permanent plaque at the room entrance.
In addition we will commemorate each donation - including those towards the guest
rooms - starting at 500 Euro, by engraving the name of the donor (or a person of the donor’s choice) on a plaque in the entrance hall of the EIAB. We will use your donation for a cause that honors your intention.
As monastics
of the Institute we vow to do everything for the well being of all living
beings. We dedicate our practice and all our energy to this goal. This is
particularly true as far as the well being of our guests is concerned.
Likewise, we need your support. Therefore, the future of the EIAB depends to
the same degree on your practice and your willingness to become involved. As we
join our efforts we will fulfill the longing for true love and deep
understanding also for future generations.Thay, the
monks, nuns and all our guests are very grateful for each donation. Every
contribution is of great value. With your donation you will personally
contribute to the spread of the seeds of mindfulness, peace and compassion in
the world, no matter the size of your contribution.
You are welcome to contact us at any time (fundraising@eiab.eu or +49(0)1781946254). We will keep all donors informed about the progress of the renovation. On the back as well as on our website www.eiab.eu, you will be able to complete a donation form.
May the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion protect you and your familiy by guiding us on the wonderful path of practice.
A lotus for you,
the renovation committee and all nuns and monks of the EIAB
