Present Moment, Eternal Moment
Life is available only in the present moment and that is perhaps the most common important message among all of the great spiritual traditions in the world, whether it is scriptural or mystical. The significance of the eternal now has been stressed strongly in the Buddhist tradition in the most ancient text of ‘Knowing the better way to live alone (Bhaddekaratta Sutta).’ The insight into the now is vividly and poetically presented by the Buddha in this crucial text of Buddhist meditation. We will have a chance to joyfully study this text and similar passages as given in Christianity and Judaism, which will help us to pave ways to a solid spiritual life rooted in the eternal now. We will also have a chance to apply this way of life in a supportive and contemplative environment of the monastic community offered by the Institute.
